Indigenous Led Initiatives

The Akwesasne Freedom School is a full day language immersion program that is seen as the model for many Indigenous communities. The Akwesasne Freedom School led the Native Language revitalization movement in 1985. Noyes funding supported the instruction of Kanienkehaka (Mohawk) language and cultural preparation for Longhouse participation and other traditional practices.
